Most of us know, Friday is associated with the planet Venus and also with the Goddess Energy in all cultures, It is connected to nurturing, Joy, Creativity and Happiness, Love and Abundance. Friday is one day of the week which most of us look forward to worldwide. Friday is associated with the Goddess of creation.

”In the beginning was the Golden womb, the seed of Elemental existence – Athrava Ved”

THE NUMBER 13 !

The number 13 is one of the most spiritual numbers in numerology, it is also a number of the void/darkness where re-birth takes place, a place where we reflect on what is inside us and higher realities, away from the illusion of life, The void is an excellent teacher, it prepares you for greater dimensions and bigger challenges which all make your life better as you go ahead on the path, its a cyclic path, like the moon.. you are born, you grow, you wane and then you die. Completely let go, merge with the darkness until you’re born again.

Death in that case is sacred, it could be a death of a relationship, of a certain phase in your life etc.. anything that tells you this is it… a part of your journey comes to an end here so that you can re-evaluate your choices and path.

Thus number 13 is associated with the Divine feminine, the Moon-Cycle (Approx. 13 days from new moon to full moon and back) , we have 13 months according to the lunar calendar which is what we followed to before patriarchy came in, then it became the solar calendar ( makes sense why we call the Sun our Father and the Moon our Mother – both are equally important) . Since Everything in nature is cyclical, we are seeing a rise of the Divine Feminine energy once again and now its time to go back to the Moon to awaken that Divinity within us. Friday the 13th was considered a sacred day before patriarchy set in, It was a day to go within, to meditate and to bring yourself in sync with the universe and in sync with our feminine side. When a woman is in sync with the Universe, she will bleed around New Moon and Ovulate on a Full Moon (also a 13 day period).

Over 13 consecutive lunar months the women used to gather in the red tents to menstruate together and to understand and embrace their shadow aspects that come up during the darkest phase of the moon in each zodiac sign. It is when the unhealed aspects of our soul come up the most.. Thus a time for contemplation and inner growth. This practice was not only in Europe but also in the tribal women of Northern America and India simultaneously.

The Egyptians understood the sacredness of the number 13, they had the 13 chakra system, 13 represented birth, death and re-birth for them in the higher realms, Its mysteries are also connected to Sacred sex which they understood. Isn’t it interesting that now we also know that the matriarchal society coincided with the previous Satya-Yuga phase in the history of the Solar system?

In ancient Israel 13 was a sanctified number. Thirteen items were decreed necessary for the tabernacle.

We all know the power that was attributed to the feminine energy during the olden days, she was considered sacred, powerful, capable of fiercely protecting as well as compassionately loving her brood as and when required. She was the one who gave birth to life, and the one we would need when things were not too good, someone capable of bringing light to the damaged aspect of our Souls. We all have that power within us, it is up to us to tap into to power, however we have been conditioned to repress it for the last few centuries.

It was a taboo for Men to show their feminine side and Women were believed to be the weaker section of society.

The truth is we all have a feminine and masculine side to us, the key lies in balancing and honoring both aspects of our Soul. In today’s day and age, we have given more importance to our masculine aspect as we feel that protects us and makes us strong, However true strength lies in knowing when we need to invoke one aspect over the other and where our Soul needs balancing.

So, that makes Friday the 13th a very lucky and special day to invoke your feminine side and respect the Goddess in whichever form you are comfortable in.

Here are a few things you could do to help yourself connect to the feminine energy.

  • Meditating on Gaia and her valuable resources, her majestic mountains, her deep seas, flowing rivers, fertile lands, abundance of growth and nourishment, her deep rooted trees, crystals and metals which hold valuable information regarding her history. Try to go deep within, hold her energy around you, Feel yourself being nurtured, feel yourself giving love, respect and gratitude to Mother Earth in all her splendor. Breathe…. Stay… Go with her flow….

  • Meditating on your own Divine self, making a list of your masculine and feminine traits, see where you need to find the balance, ask the Divine Mother to guide you in those aspects of your life which need balancing, Are you too ambitious, not taking enough time for your inner growth ? Have you hardened yourself emotionally so that you can exist in life? Is that what you really want ? That isn’t a coping mechanism , that is a mechanism which will land you with a lot of blockages and illness related to the feminine aspect.

  • If you are not the meditating kinds, go clean up your nearest park, society, a beach any place where mother earth is giving to you but ‘mankind has abused her blessings, Go try and fix that, if possible plant trees, give back to mother nature…

  • Spread Love and joy in people’s life, nurture them, so spend time with children or the elderly, nourish someone’s soul by giving part of yours.

  • For those who meditate regularly, After meditating, bring the light down to your feet, to your basic and Earth star chakra and flood all the Divine energy to Mother Earth with lots of love and gratitude… Feel yourself connecting deep within her heart, let go…let her take you in, heal you, nurture you and bring you back ( If you can handle it…)

  • Love and respect the Divinity within the women in your life for now and always.

Why is it Unlucky ?

As far as I have noticed Friday the 13th has only been unlucky for those who do not respect the Divine Feminine in their life! Co-incidence ? Maybe not.

Sometimes what your parents / grand parents tell you holds a lot of truth in it, they may not understand why they are saying it or may not know the reason behind it as they weren’t allowed to question their elders.

Sometimes they simply are wise but don’t like to give explanations. I always remember what my Grand-dad said, He said, “If you cannot respect the woman in your life, be it your wife, mother, sister or anyone for that matter, you will never amount to anything.” And I have seen this manifest in all the families I have come across as of now, I have not seen any family where the above statement does not hold true. All families where women are loved and respected do well, prosper and are happy.

All families where women aren’t loved and respected, Alas! are still struggling.

Then again, there are families where women can be a menace as well ! well, there is a lot to all of this…so, we leave something for another time.

The truth is we all have a feminine and masculine side to us… the key lies in balancing and honoring both aspects of our Soul. In today’s day and age, we have given more importance to our masculine aspect as we feel that protects us and makes us strong, However true strength lies in knowing when we need to invoke one aspect over the other and where our Soul needs balancing.

What we think of the ordinary consciousness, which forms the logical, reasoning ,thinking practical aspect of our brain, the cerebrum (masculine brain) was formed only towards the end of our gestation period in the womb, then also it was barely functional. The other aspects of the brain, the feeling aspect including the limbic system, hippocampus and amygdala referred to as the feminine aspect were formed much earlier during gestation and thus the child ‘feels’ and understands before it can begin to think rationally, the feelings are what the Soul is made of.

When you feed your feminine aspect, you are feeding your Soul.

Buddha Padmasambhava himself states that without Princess Mandarava and Yeshe Tsogyal his power would be but “meager”.

A woman has the mystical capacity to open up and reveal the hidden soul of man. Through her spirit she can bring to the Soul of the man a deeper dimension of suffering and joy that opens up the wellsprings of his inner being….. When such a woman of valor is not there, then the spirit of mysticism must work in her stead to achieve the same goal. Abraham Issac kook – Olat Reiyah 1.62”

Look at my three-petalled lotus,

Its center adorned with stamen.

It is a Buddha paradise, adorned with Red Buddha,

A Cosmic mother who bestows,

Bliss and tranquility on the passionate.
